GrayMatter Education | JC Chemistry | H2 Chemistry

H2 Chemistry is an important subject pre-requisite to many university courses like Medicine, Dentistry, Pharmacy, Chemical Engineering and Environmental Engineering.

The H2 Chemistry A level syllabus has shifted emphasis from factual material to understanding and application of scientific concepts and principles. Some questions may be based on information which is unfamiliar to the student.

The GrayMatter JC Chemistry tuition program aims to demonstrate how to use principles and concepts that are within the syllabus and apply them in a logical, reasoned or deductive manner to a novel situation. To cater to the new syllabus requirement, we have developed new learning materials to show students how to integrate knowledge and understanding from different areas and topics of the Chemistry syllabus. Past year A level questions are modified, sorted and organised into different levels of difficulty to cater to different learning stages and needs for different students.

H2 Chemistry is a content-heavy subject. In order to be able to apply the concepts quickly, students still need to remember a lot of factual material. At GrayMatter Education, we accelerate this process with useful notes, mnemonics and methods to handle the large volume of information.

The teachers here explain concepts to the fullest and use different ways of explaining the same concept to ensure understanding. The topical revisions during lessons allowed me to raise any doubts that I have. The notes taken during the revisions are concise, allowing me extra time to practise questions and clarify doubts, without having to go through stacks of notes. Thanks to GrayMatter I eventually got an A for Chemistry!

In my years here in GrayMatter, the strategic structuring of lessons and clear explanations of key concepts were always excellent and helped greatly. In addition, the teaching of key exam answering techniques proved to be a great boon during the A levels. In never failing to go the extra mile to explain a particularly challenging concept, shedding light into topics I was unsure of, or even delving into topics of interest outside the syllabus, the teachers are clearly knowledgeable, dedicated, encouraging and patient.

My Chemistry teacher's explanations were always easy to understand which helped me to master chemistry. Initially, I was confused about certain concepts but he helped me to clear my doubts. He always made the effort to answer our queries and was dedicated to his job of teaching us. The staff at GrayMatter were also very friendly and helpful. Having tuition at GrayMatter was truly a great experience.

I used to really struggle with Chemistry in my JC1 year, but with the teacher's guidance, I managed to jump several grades to an A in the GCE 'A' Level examinations. The teacher would explain every chemistry concept in great detail, even coming with acroynms to help us remember several chemistry concepts. He would also provide us with tips to better counter the various tests and exams. With Graymatter Education's help, I am able to go into the exam hall with great confidence and ace the 'A' levels.

The teacher really interacted with us students during the lessons, making sure each of us understood the various concepts in chemistry. He went through the questions and answers thoroughly, but only after we had thought through ourselves first. The lessons were engaging and taught me a lot about handling a wide variety of common questions tested in the A level examinations.

Throughout my J1 year, I was barely passing chemistry and no matter how hard I studied, there was minimal improvement. After failing my first term exams in J2, I decided I needed tuition if I wanted to do well for the ‘A’ Levels. My friend recommended me to GrayMatter Education Centre. Almost immediately, I saw a constant improvement in my chemistry results. The tutor was very efficient and made sure that every minute spent at tuition was not wasted. He drilled us with practices and he would give detailed explanations of the answers. He was encouraging and patient, making sure that we understood the concepts instead of just memorising the answers. Thanks to GrayMatter, I got an A for chemistry!

My Chemistry grades were always horrible and I never had any confidence in this subject. I had difficulty doing tutorials and tests and struggled to catch up with my school work as my basics were weak. After attending GrayMatter’s classes, my grades improved by leaps and bounds after a few months of tuition, and I eventually managed to secure an A for Chemistry at the ‘A’ levels! The tutor at GrayMatter Education Centre was patient and explained difficult concepts in layman terms so that it was easier to understand. He was always willing to go the extra mile to help us. Seeking help at GrayMatter Education has been one of the best decisions in my life. Thank you GrayMatter!

I am a very satisfied student of GrayMatter Education. The tutor at GrayMatter explains the concepts of Chemistry in a very clear, logical and systematic manner that allows students to fully understand important concepts in the ‘A’ Level Chemistry Syllabus. The tutor also provides questions that probes deeper into the thinking and understanding of the concepts and this has trained me to handle more challenging questions. In school, I have always struggled to pass my Chemistry tests and exams. Eventually, I got an ‘A’ in the A level exams for Chemistry!

Due to my heavy commitments in Music, I have limited time for my studies. Chemistry has been one of my favourite subjects. However, it is a subject that demands a lot of my time. The voluminous notes made it difficult for me to digest and assimilate quickly. The doubts began to accumulate as I had no time to work on past topics and it was becoming more difficult keeping up with new ones. Thankfully, the teacher was very patient and clear in his explanations. The practice questions given were very relevant. The excellent teaching shortened my learning process. With such great support, I managed to score an A for Chemistry in the ‘A’ level exams!
